Who is Dawson Med?
Dawson Med was established in 2021 as a Primary and Urgent Care practice serving Wilmington, NC. Like Magnolia Family Medicine (MFM), we’re a locally owned, independent practice focused on building long-term, trusted relationships with our patients. Two providers—Jan Pixton, PA-C and Dr. Umar Bowers, MD—will primarily be seeing former Magnolia Family Medicine patients at Dawson Med Primary Care located at 608 Dawson Street.

Will I still be seen at the Magnolia Family Medicine office on Shipyard Blvd?
For now, all patients will be seen at Dawson Med’s main clinic at 608 Dawson Street. Dawson Med Primary & Urgent Care has been an established practice at this location since 2021. We know this may be less convenient for some, and we’re actively working toward the ability to see patients at the Magnolia Family Medicine office on Shipyard Blvd.
Will I still be able to see a provider I know and trust?
Dawson Med providers share Dr. Gutsin’s approach to personalized, relationship-based care. Many of our team members knew Dr. Gutsin personally and have long respected the way he cared for his patients. Two of our providers—Jan Pixton, PA-C and Dr. Umar Bowers, MD—will be primarily seeing former Magnolia Family Medicine patients at Dawson Med Primary Care. Will you accept my insurance?
Dawson Med accepts most major insurance plans. If you have questions about whether your specific plan is covered, feel free to give us a call at (910) 387-3788, and our staff will be happy to assist you.
How do I schedule an appointment or speak with someone?
Please call Dawson Med directly at (910) 387-3788 to ask questions or make an appointment. It is important to identify yourself as a former patient of Dr. Gutsin from Magnolia Family Medicine for quicker scheduling prior to your appointment.

Parking is available on-site, and our location is easily accessible from most parts of Wilmington.
